About
Built on fiber. Grown beyond it.
Lightwave Engineering began in 2012 as KL Fiber, building RF-over-Fiber links for military and maritime satellite systems. Today we design and build complete RF, GNSS, and monitoring systems for operators who can't afford downtime.
Our story
From KL Fiber to Lightwave.
KL Fiber earned its reputation on RF-over-Fiber — links that carry satellite signals from the antenna to the equipment room without the loss and interference of long coax runs. Those systems went to sea with the U.S. military and aboard some of the world's largest cruise ships.
As customers brought us bigger problems, the work grew past fiber: GNSS timing and heading, environmental and system monitoring, and full mechanical, electrical, and RF engineering. Lightwave Engineering is the name for that wider mission.
Our team
Engineers who've been aboard.
Our team's background is in naval communications and yacht electronics. We've installed, troubleshot, and repaired the systems we now design — and it shows in equipment built to be serviced in a cramped radome or an engine-room rack.
We have cleared engineering staff for defense programs, and we take products from first design through prototype, production, certification, and field support in-house.
